The SILVERDOCS 2011 film festival and conference are halfway through and as usual fail to disappoint. 
I’ve been lucky enough, the past two days, to sit in on a few filmmaker conference panels at SILVERDOCS. I learned quite a bit and it’s been tough to narrow down the items I want to share, but here they are:
What happened at the close of the Producers Institute is a process that not every presenter has the luxury to invoke. Producers for the five teams had to make the tough decisions. Presentations were initially due Wednesday at 6pm. Wednesday quickly became Thursday at noon. By Thursday at 6pm, the slides were finally in, but the challenge was just beginning. 
The goal for Tuesday at the Producers Institute was to map out the deck that will ultimately become the presentation to potential funders on Friday. That was day two of four 13-hour days, running from 9AM to 10PM, sometimes longer, with breaks for good food, a little dose of sunshine and perspective away from the computers.
