Location: Founders Room, School of International Service, American University, 4400 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20016

The Center for Social Media is cosponsoring a special screening of "A Journey through the River Vitasta," in support of student documentary work. The film's director Pawan Bali is enrolled in the SIS International Peace and Conflict Resolution masters program.

From the Conciliation Resources website:

This is the first documentary film to be shot on both sides oPawan Bali pictured with Mohammad Arif Urfi (left) and colleagues during the film edit of A Journey Through River Vitasta ©Conciliation Resourcesf the Line of Control (LoC).

Making the film was a significant success in itself as the two journalists who produced it – Mohammad Arif Urfi and Pawan Bali – are from either side of the LoC in Kashmir and were not able to meet in their home region. In the final two minutes of the film they talk about their own experience of working together across the divide.
